If you like to combine traveling and playing golf, it is a good idea to spare a minute to think about a golf travel insurance. Many regular travel insurance policies don’t offer protection against sports-related accidents. Since golf is seen as a safe non-contact sport, you might think that you don’t need the extra coverage either, but believe me, anything can happen! It only takes one erratic shot. If you are a golf player, this all applies to you, no matter how often you play or how good a player you are.
First, there is yourself. Thousands of people end up into a hospital after having a golf related accident, and that can get expensive.
Second, the ball is so hard and it travels so fast that it can cause more damage than you would imagine. You might end up hurting other players or the property around you, and you will be held liable.
And then there is your golf equipment, and you wouldn’t want anything happen to it. However, if you are a traveling golfer, you know that you have to check in your golf bag when flying, and that makes your gear vulnerable. It might get lost, stolen or destroyed.
You can also end up scoring a hole-in-one. Congratulations, that’s great! But did you know that you are supposed to celebrate it by buying drinks to everyone at the golf club? That can get expensive, especially if you are traveling in Europe where the drinks can easily cost 5, 7, even 10 dollars each.
Last but not least there are the obscure incidents NOBODY is able to prepare themselves for beforehand. Did you read about the golf player who just recently tried to hit a ball out of the rough and struck a rock instead, which apparently caused a spark which burned down about 12 acres of forest. This golfer is not being charged over the fire, but this story just shows you that anything can happen. And that is exactly the moment when you want to have a golf travel insurance.
